05 – Yasuhiro Chida »Aftereal«

Andreasstadel

“Aftereal” is an immersive installation that blurs the boundaries between perception and reality. Hundreds of fluorescent threads, vibrated by motors and illuminated by UV light, fill the environment with wave-like movement. This creates ephemeral images—much like the fleeting trails left by sparklers. Drawing on themes of embodied experience, sensory technology, and the mind’s role in constructing reality, “Aftereal” demonstrates that our eyes remain the primary medium for exploring the world, even in the face of technological advances. The work resonates with the sensibilities of contemporary artists who investigate perception, embodiment, and the interplay between space, body, and technology.

Yasuhiro Chida studied architecture in Tokyo and creates large installations in the public space or natural landscapes that have been shown in Europe since 2015. The most important theme in Yasuhiro Chida’s work is the physical, sensory perception of our environment, and the way in which we respond to changes.
